I, personally, want to extend an invitation to ALL dental hygienists in our area, members of ADHA and non-members, to come and be with us as a team of professionals . We are the Greater Orlando Dental Hygiene Association but, we are also a team of professionals, 16,549 strong, in Florida sharing the same title of Registered Dental Hygienist . Our goal should be unity, because as history has shown, together we can achieve much, divided, we will achieve little.
For the first time, Greater Orlando is offering free CEU's to All Dental Hygienists attending our monthly meetings for the remainder of this year. Wouldn't it be nice to be able to continue offering this? The reality is, operating an association requires funds and so we are exploring ways to support the association while extending this wonderful benefit. If you have an idea that will help us meet our budget needs, please let one of the officers know, and let's make this work.
And now I would like to ask a question.
What is your passion? I know what your career path is, but what is your passion? When some one asks you what you do for a living, can they tell that improving the quality of life through good oral health is your passion? Do they hear in your voice and see in your eyes the excitement that makes them say “Wow, you really love what you do.”
One way to keep a passionate fire burning is set a side time for renewal. Each month we, as hygienists in the Greater Orlando area, set aside a couple of hours to meet, laugh, learn and inspire each other.
So make the commitment to yourself, your clients, and your profession by marking the dates on your calendar and just do it . You will be joining a group that will become your biggest supporter.
Before closing I want to take a minute to recognize two members of Greater Orlando who will be holding the top positions in our state this year. Jackie Burt McDonough, RDH will be incoming President of the Florida Dental Hygiene Association and Paula Schad, RDH will be our Florida Dental Hygiene Association, President-Elect. We look forward to supporting Jackie, Paula and all who represent us at the National and State level. These individuals work diligently to keep our profession safe and ultimately allow us to continue to improve the health of the citizens of Florida .
