Greater Orlando Dental Hygiene Association Newsletter

SEPTEMBER 2008
PRESIDENT'S MESSAGE
I am pleased to serve as President of the Greater Orlando Dental Hygiene Association for 2008-2009. The board members have been very busy planning a successful year. Countless hours are spent planning, organizing CEU sponsorships, faxing and emailing. We would not be such a successful association without the "behind the scenes" efforts. I point this out because we always need members to become and stay involved.
As we collect our required continuing education credits for the next biennium, I challenge each and every member to seek uncharted courses. Expand your horizons through face to face meetings and internet research. Learning is lifelong.
Quoting the wonderful professor, RANDY PAUSCH, whom recently lost his fight with cancer - "Experience is what you get when you didn't get what you wanted".

ADHA BOARD OF TRUSTEES ADOPTS ADHP COMPETENCIES

The American Dental Hygienists' Association (ADHA) has adopted the Competencies for the Advanced Dental Hygiene Practitioner (ADHP).  The ADHP model has been created by ADHA as an answer to the oral health crisis in America.  ADHA's vision is that this new mid-level provider would safely provide quality diagnostic, preventive, therapeutic and restorative services directly to the underserved public.  ADHPs represent a significant advancement for the dental hygiene profession and demonstrates organized dental hygiene's strong commitment to the public's oral health.
With the financial support of Philips Sonicare, Inc., the Standards were distributed to all ADHA members with the May/June issue of Access. Look for the finalized version of the Standards for Clinical Dental Hygiene Practice at www.ADHA.org
