Happy New Year Fellow Hygienists!

Thank you for supporting GODHA in 2011! We are looking forward to your continued support in 2012.  The board and several of its members have planned a very exciting first half of 2012 starting with our first meeting on January 3rd at 6:30.  Dr. Michael Allen DDS, MPH will be speaking to us about a very important topic: "Community Health 2012".

As GODHA President, I am privileged and honored to represent the hygienists licensed in the Greater Orlando area. I invite members and potential members to take an active role, not just as clinicians, but in our professional association.

I would like to extend my thanks and gratitude to Tiffany Baggs and Tricia Bracher for planning our October Fall Seminar.  It was a huge success and we had a great turnout of hygienists in our area!

I hope that all of you have a safe and joyous holiday season!  I am looking forward to seeing everyone in 2012!

Smile Day 2012

ADMINISTRATION OF LOCAL ANESTHESIA BY FLORIDA RDHS

Join your fellow hygienists from across the state in Tallahassee on Thurs. Feb. 9,2012, to visit our senators and representatives to discuss the bill being presented in the 2012 Legislative Session.

It is time the hygienists in Florida join the rank of colleagues in 44 other states to become certified in administering local anesthesia.

GODHA members will carpool, leaving Wed. Feb. 8 and returning Thurs. early evening.  Attendees registration fee, shared hotel room and gas costs will be covered by GODHA.  A breakfast orientation and lunch are provided Thursday by FDHA.

There will be a 2 credit CE course "Tobacco Cessation & Oral Health" and dinner on Wed. at 6:30pm for those arriving in time.  Preregistration is required and the fee is the responsibility of yourself, not GODHA.  Check the FDHA.org web site for details.

Contact Paula Schad, pesrdh@aol.com or 352-223-5033 by JANUARY 13th if you want to attend Smile Day so carpools can be arranged and hotel rooms reserved.

SPECIAL SMILES  screened 341 athletes at the Fall Classic Games held November 4-5 in Orlando!! Thank you to all the GODHA members and other hygienists who volunteered!! If you participated, or have in the past, you know how much the athletes enjoy having their teeth looked at, having the fluoride varnish applied (yes, they like it!), brushing the puppets teeth and especially, getting their goodie bags with the Shrek battery brushes. Hope to see you at the event in the spring of 2012!
