Greetings!

Thank you, Greater Orlando Dental Hygiene Association, for the opportunity of serving as your President for the past year.
I will be "passing the gavel" onto Debra Dixon this September and would love for GODHA to welcome her with open arms.
The Board along with other members met together in July to create a calendar of events for the coming year. We are very fortunate to be one of the largest and financially sound components in the state. This requires all of us to keep GODHA going strong!

Back to School/HOPE Foundation

It's that time again when many children around Orlando are heading back to school. Please bring new school supplies and non-perishable goods to our September meeting for the

HOPE Foundation. Their pantry is low and we know they would appreciate any help. **Many stores are having buy one get one free offers which make it a great way to donate!**

HYPAC Request

The Hygienists' Political Action Committee (HYPAC) is a group of dental hygienists and citizens of Florida that contribute to the campaigns of candidates for state legislative offices that support the oral health care of the patients that dental hygienists serve. HYPAC is also the only state political action committee that represents the interests of the profession of dental hygiene. This committee is a bipartisan program that does not favor one political party over another.

As you are probably aware, the Florida Dental Hygiene Association in collaboration with the Florida Dental Association was successful in having bills passed in the 2011 legislative year that will expand health access settings for dental hygienists. This legislation will authorize dental hygienists to provide preventive services without the physical presence, prior examination or authorization of a dentist.  This will allow us to provide services to more of our state's underserved population.

The HYPAC funds have been utilized.   In order to continue our endeavors over the next year, we need contributions from concerned hygienists and other concernedcitizens.  If you are attending the Florida Dental Hygiene Association Symposium September 22-25, you may stop by the HYPAC table to give your donation and be entered to win the terrific drawing for those that contribute at the meeting!  If you are unable to attend the symposium, you may contribute at any time by contacting either person below to receive a contribution form via email.  Every donation counts in a big way!  If each Registered Dental Hygienist in the state would give $5 or more, this would make a huge impact for all concerned in this great effort!

Your profession and the citizens of Florida thank you for your contribution to the oral health of Florida's population!

Evelyn Miller, HYPAC President    evelyn@erroof.com

Paula E. Schad, HYPAC  Treasurer    pesrdh@aol.com
"If your actions inspire others to dream more, learn more, do more and become more, you are a leader."
